What Should I Keep in Mind When I Go to Turkey?

Turkey is still a popular holiday destination among many travelers. The country has several large places where it is touristic. Are you hesitating to go to this sunny place? Then let us quickly inform you via this post about the reasons why you should definitely go to Turkey and a few things that you should definitely have arranged.

Take advantage of it!

The travel packages to Turkey cost relatively little. And compared to other countries they are very affordable and cheap. The packages that are chosen by vacationers are often with all-inclusive hotels. For people who want to go to a sunny destination for a good price: there is often a wide range of last minute trips for flights and hotels. This way you are even cheaper. So don’t choose the first best trip you come across, but look closely at the prices and take advantage of them. The same applies to the prices for daily purchases. Relatively speaking, you pay relatively little money for eating out and buying clothes, you want to save even more and you are. a good negotiator? Then try to haggle on your products to save even more!

Culture tasting in the sunny country

In some parts of the country the sun shines almost all year round. In many times of the year there is a guarantee of the sun and that makes Turkey a wonderful country, certainly a good destination to escape the cold. A trip to the capital is definitely recommended if only to experience the atmosphere of the city. In addition, the country is full of old traditions, so much is produced in the country, so products are typically Turkish, I’m talking about Turkish carpets, tea glasses, clothes, music… and so on! When we talk about culture, there are also countless buildings from ancient times to see. A little taste of the cultural history. An example is the Hagia Sophia. This building is extremely large and has been around for centuries. The building has been transformed into a mosque, but today it is an important museum depicting the history of Turkey. Another great and derelict building from ancient times is the Ephesus. It used to be a rich Roman port and city, parts of the building have been preserved in good condition, this is definitely recommended.

Another currency

Before you can visit one of these nice sights you have to think that you have to pay first. In Turkey, payment is not made with the Euro, but with the Turkish Lira. Debit cards from the Netherlands are largely accepted, but it is always handy to have cash with you. Keep in mind the transaction costs you incur when exchanging Euros for Liras. So do not exchange too much money, since you can also withdraw money at the machine.

Visa required

You can only enter the country if you have a visa. It is easy to apply for a visa for Turkey. The country has a visa requirement, so you should definitely have these things arranged. The validity of a visa for Turkey is 180 days. There are various options regarding the cost of a Turkish visa, depending on where you apply for it. A number of parties charge extra costs, which makes it more expensive. So be sure to read carefully and see where you apply for it.

Hospitals and Police

Healthcare in Turkey is well organized and in many cases you don’t have to worry about that. Hospitals are available in Turkey, in case you should get sick. Every hospital has an emergency room, there is no need to pay for it in advance. Make sure you have a good travel insurance that covers enough. Always save the number of hospitals or the police in your phone, if something happens you are always ready.
